Discover the relevant material
Investigation starts by locating evidence within the task’s scope. Search and indexes help identify likely sources; they do not establish that the source has been fully inspected.
The benefit is a focused starting point without confusing discovery with proof. When a claim depends on a document or file, the relevant authoritative material must support it.

Inspect before interpreting
Inspection turns source material into attributable observations. Evidence should be connected to the task and source, so a later reader can understand what the investigation actually examined.
This is where plausible recollection must give way to the material in front of the system. The purpose is to reduce unsupported leaps from a filename, a search snippet, or an earlier summary to a conclusion about behavior.

Give findings a chance to fail
A proposed finding is not the final result. Analysis includes judgment and rebuttal, with explicit room for a claim to be refuted or remain inconclusive. Verification can then record confirmation, rejection, or uncertainty.
We selected this structure to counter the tendency to collect support for the first convincing explanation. It creates a place for contrary evidence to matter. The model-assisted parts of this process still make judgments; a second opinion is not an infallible oracle.

Consolidate what survived
The handoff should preserve the supported findings and their evidence, while keeping unresolved scope visible. A rejected hypothesis must not reappear as an established fact merely because it makes the final story more coherent.
For the buyer, the value is an investigation that distinguishes what it found from what it could not establish. Final analysis then checks the account against the run’s recorded outcomes.
